2007年の購入簿は打ち止め（多分）

　WatchtowerのRon JarzombekとCannibal CorpseのAlex Websterらが参加しているトリオ・プロジェクト、Blotted Scienceが見つからない＆amazonでは高額、半分諦めていたところ、現在イタリア旅行中の某Ｓさんの日記でのCD Baby入手報告を見て、おお、そうだった！その手があるのを忘れていた！ってな訳で早速私もCD Babyで購入。ついでにMeshuggahキーワードで何作か購入。プラケース不要にすれば送料も安くなる。でも購入してみたらデジパックが予想以上に多くて、結局箱で送られてきた。CD Babyに申し訳ないことをしてしまった。(^^; インディーズ系のアーティストを格安で提供してくれるCD Baby、一度利用してみると面白いぞ？まずメールが楽しいのだ。一部抜粋。

　そのCD Babyからの購入、取り敢えず４作ピックアップ。


　☆Extension / Promise Waste and Rot (番号無し) '07
　Extensionのデヴュー作。Ds.はMeshuggah/Lamb of God/Machine Headからの影響大。Vo.の吠え具合もMeshuggahからの影響大。１曲１曲単体できくと良い感じなのだが、全部通してきいたときに正直印象に残る曲が無いというのが惜しい。これはギターが殆どリフに徹していてギターソロらしいプレイをしない所に関係があるのかなと思ったりして。最近のバンドはギター・ソロというのが珍しくなりつつあるので、おじさんとしては寂しいなぁ。何も独りよがりのソロを弾けというのではないが、個性は重要だと思うぞ。全部Mudvayneの如くリフで終始するのは面白くないなぁ。このバンド、そのギターがリーダーか。(^^; 元々バンドの力量は充分な物は持っていると思うので残念な気がする作品だ。次作に期待。


　☆Magnacult / Synore (Rusty Cage Records RCR-0008) '07
　Magnacultのデヴュー作。特に特徴もなく、印象が薄かったなぁ。興味をそそるようなジャケットだったので期待していたのだが。彼らもMeshuggahからの影響があるようであるが、個人的にはそれ程感じられなかった。


　☆Obsidian / Emerging (Rusty Cage Records RCR-0009) '07
　このバンドは良かった。Meshuggah/Scarve/Cynic系の音であるが、ギターのセンスが今後に期待が持てる。超絶テクを持っているわけではないが、１曲１曲を工夫しているので耳を惹くサウンド。聴かせどころが随所にあるユニークなサウンドだ。コアな中でもドラマティックな展開がある。まだ整理し切れていない曲調もあり、焦点を定めた曲作り、後は上記のExtension級かそれ以上のテクを持つことになれば大化けするかも。なお、ミックスとマスタリングはTexturesのJochem Jacobsが担当している。次世代Metalシーンの息吹が感じられ、次作の期待大。


　☆Blotted Science / The Machinations of Dementia (Eclectic & Electric EE2007) '07
　Spastic Inkのコアな部分を抽出したような納得の超絶変態度。(笑) 全編インスト、マニア必聴であることは間違い無し。
